class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Nearly 8 km of trails have been developed and maintained since work began in Boucher Forest Park in September 2021. And there&#8217;s more to come! The growing population of residents aged 65 and over, combined with the limited availability of accessible outdoor spaces, led us to prioritize the development of this loop, which crosses several ecosystems\u2014including hardwood forests, cedar groves, and wetlands\u2014and features two boardwalks and a small bridge, the first infrastructure built in the park. <\/p><p class=\"western\" style=\"font-size: 18px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">Currently, no other hiking trail in Gatineau offers people with reduced mobility such an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.<\/p><p class=\"western\" style=\"font-size: 18px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">The other trail beginning in the southern sector is the&nbsp;Coulicou Trail. At 1.9 km in length, it is the longest trail in the park and runs north-south, connecting the Samuel-Edey entrance in the south with the Antoine-Boucher entrance in the northeast. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2906d1c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2906d1c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Eastern Sector<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f89e81f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f89e81f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"western\">Three trails of varying lengths are located along the eastern boundary of Boucher Forest Park. The short <b>Oriole Trail<\/b> begins at the junction of the Jaseur and Coulicou trails in the south and extends for approximately 100 metres. In the coming years, it will also host the park\u2019s fitness trail.  <\/p><p class=\"western\">The two other eastern trails are located farther north. areas of the park without getting their feet wet!<\/p><p class=\"western\">We have observed that wildlife and plant life have flourished since the boardwalks were built in 2021 and 2022.<\/p><p class=\"western\">Some have become refuges for amphibians and reptiles, while others are ideal places to relax, socialize, and meet fellow visitors.<\/p><p class=\"western\">Some boardwalks do not It\u2019s a long-running joke familiar to many who enjoy this natural area close to home! <\/p><p class=\"western\">The Foundation recognized the need for clear signage to improve both safety and visitor enjoyment. In spring 2023, we installed more than 300 trail markers on wooden posts throughout the park. <\/p><p class=\"western\">Each trail has its own colour and is clearly identified on the signage. Artist and Foundation board member Sylvain Potvin created these works to honour their contribution using wood generously provided by our partner Logs End of Bristol. <\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">This white pine, more than 70 years old, was recovered from the Ottawa River, dried, and carefully prepared for reuse. It now lives on in the park as a symbol of gratitude to our generous donors, whose names are permanently displayed on plaques attached to these recognition trees. Foundation has created a new fitness trail near the Samuel-Edey entrance.<\/p><p data-start=\"416\" data-end=\"646\">This natural obstacle course, featuring wooden structures such as boardwalks, tunnels, and climbing nets, was designed to provide families and young visitors with a fun and engaging experience in the heart of the forest.<\/p><p data-start=\"648\" data-end=\"883\">Developed in partnership with the <strong data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"700\">City of Gatineau,<\/strong> this project supports the Foundation\u2019s mission to protect and showcase Boucher Forest while making it accessible to the public through educational and interactive experiences.<\/p><p data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"1076\">Available free of charge during park opening hours, this new installation enhances the park\u2019s outdoor activity offerings and invites visitors of all ages to discover the forest in a new
