Our Mission: Education, Conservation and Protection of Boucher Forest

The Boucher Forest Foundation’s mission is to protect, enhance, and make accessible the flora and fauna of Boucher Forest. This includes acquiring land parcels, developing the territory, and organizing environmental projects to preserve its ecosystems. The Foundation also educates the public about the importance of protecting Boucher Forest and provides a unique and enriching learning environment for local schools.

Our Values Reflect Today's Social and Environmental Challenges

The Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life of Boucher Forest Park users, whose daily lives are increasingly affected by fast-paced lifestyles and growing climate concerns. That is why we provide trails and infrastructure that allow people to reconnect with nature, stay active, and learn about the importance and benefits of healthy ecosystems.

Sharing

By sharing the results of our projects with the community, in partnership with the City of Gatineau (which owns 55% of Boucher Forest and entrusts its management to the Foundation), our organization demonstrates that it is possible to enjoy a high-quality natural environment in harmony with community needs.

This shared network of trails, infrastructure, and peaceful natural spaces is essential to ensuring a thriving future for this urban forest. Many visitors even compare it to New York City’s Central Park. Interestingly, Central Park itself was born from a citizen-led movement to preserve a remarkable green space.

Respect

The Foundation promotes respect in many forms and encourages everyone who supports Boucher Forest to do the same:

  • Respect for the environment and sustainable forest management practices.
  • Respect for municipal, provincial, and federal laws, as well as the unwritten rules that promote harmony and well-being within the community.
  • Respect for all visitors, regardless of the reasons they come to Boucher Forest Park.
  • Respect for the infrastructure and facilities installed throughout Boucher Forest Park.
  • Respect for our commitments to the community, donors, and partners.
